L\u2019instrument le plus appropri\u00e9 est le mod\u00e8le de luth \u00e0 manche col de cygne en mi de 11 \u00e0 14 cordes, poss\u00e9dant une longueur de touche de 64 cm. Cet instrument peut aussi bien \u00eatre mont\u00e9 de cordes comme un luth \u00e0 manche col de cygne en r\u00e9. Pour le r\u00e9pertoire de la Renaissance, qui g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement ne requiert pas plus de huit cordes sur la touche et une longueur vibrante de cordes l\u00e9g\u00e8rement inf\u00e9rieure, il est conseill\u00e9 d\u2019utiliser un capodastre \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re ou \u00e0 la deuxi\u00e8me frette.<\/p>\n<p>Le luth \u00e0 manche col de cygne en mi, mis au point en 2002 et devenu depuis un instrument tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ci\u00e9, offre au guitariste des possibilit\u00e9s quasiment illimit\u00e9es. Il tient compte du fait que l\u2019accord le plus courant des instruments \u00e0 cordes pinc\u00e9es n\u2019est plus l\u2019accord en sol du luth alto, mais l\u2019accord en mi du luth t\u00e9nor, qui est celui de la guitare moderne. Partant de l\u2019accord familier des six cordes sup\u00e9rieures, le guitariste peut s\u2019accoutumer peu \u00e0 peu et sans effort \u00e0 la pratique du riche registre de basse.
