Strings

For an average instrument average strings might just be good enough. A perfectly balanced stringed instrument, however, needs an equally perfect stringing. It is for this reason that we have from the start been as concerned with the development of optimal sets of strings as with the development of the actual instrument itself. Liuto forte strings are manufactured according to precise specifications by professional string makers. They are tailor made for each model.

Due to the finest graduation within the range of string gauges we are able to make the smallest adjustments, and to take into account the personal sound perception of our customers. This ideal situation is unique in the world among makers of plucked stringed instruments.

Liuto forte strings are not available in stores, but are ordered by customers via email directly from the manufacturer “Pyramid”. Since these are custom-made products, a waiting period of approx. 2 weeks must be planned. We therefore recommend that you buy a sufficient stock of those fingerboard strings that are most subject to wear and tear. The stringing of each instrument is documented by us upon delivery and each subsequent change made by the customer is stored. This enables us to respond specifically to the individual wishes of the players.

Every Liuto forte customer receives a complete set of strings as well as the stringing list in printed and electronic form upon delivery of his instrument for reordering from the manufacturer:

Cases

We take our instrument cases from various European manufacturers. They are custom built for each of our models, with which they share a handicraft of the highest quality.

Instrument cases are passed on to our customers at the manufacturer’s price plus a small lump sum for expenses.

The Capo Tasto

Our capos have been especially adapted for the varying neck widths of Liuti forti from the guitar capo tasto made by the firm Shubb. By supplying the name of your lute model and the width of the neck at the second fret (distance between highest and lowest fingerboard string plus 6 mm) a capo can be ordered directly from

Lute Rest

For Liuti forti with varnished ribs you can also use Ergoplay supports, as guitarists know them. Since the ribs of a lute body are very thin and less break-resistant than the ribs of a guitar, the support should be attached carefully.
